Webinar with Tim Grahl

I just watched Book Marketing for Nonfiction Authors a FREE webinar hosted by Tim Grahl, who is the founder of BookLaunch.com and author of YOUR FIRST 1000 COPIES and The Book Launch Blueprint.

  • To schedule a viewing, go to his Website: https://booklaunch.com
  • You’ll be asked a series of simple questions related to your niche (fiction vs. non fiction) and where you are in the publishing process.
  • You have the option of choosing the time for your live event based on your timezone.
  • I timed my event just right, the next webinar started in 15 minutes, and there were about 300 attendees during my session.

He also has a page listing Book Marketing Resources, which includes articles and free training:

Here’s what he covers in his webinar:

  • The 3 Parts of Every Bestselling Nonfiction Author Platform. This is the blueprint. Every successful author must have these 3 things to succeed.
  • How Social Media Works (and How to Use It). Whether it’s Facebook or Instagram or Twitter or [fill in the blank], there are common misconceptions about how to use social media to build your author platform.
  • Blogs vs Podcasts vs Email Lists. best tools to build your platform and how they work.
  • A Simple Marketing Plan for Nonfiction Authors. a step-by-step system you can start immediately to build your platform.

Summary:

I’d highly recommend taking the time to listen to what Tim has to say.

The webinar ran for 90 minutes and was full of really useful and actionable tips and advice for new and seasoned authors. As well as covering his content, he held a 15 minutes Q&A to answer questions from the audience, and offered a couple of free download worksheets to get your started.

I took copious notes and was going to share them in this blog post, but it would be more adventageous for your to watch Tim’s webinar for yourself, to help put the information he shared into context.

One of the things Tim mentioned more that once was that he knew authors didn’t want book marketing to become their part-time or full-time job. And that’s exactly how I feel. I know book marketing is an important part of being a traditional and indie author, but it shouldn’t be all-consuming.

I run an interview series featuring authors who have written travel-related books and the common theme is that book marketing is their least enjoyable activity.

Many authors get overwhelmed with book marketing. They don’t know where to start, or they get disillusioned that the efforts they’re making just aren’t having an impact on their book sales, but Tim shares a three step philosophy that allows you to focus on the right activities for your book and niche.

Watch Tim’s webinar! Even if you don’t buy one of his books, or sign up for his author training, the information he shares will inspire you to take action to market your book.

Tim’s Book: Your First 1000 Copies

I was tempted to sign up for his 101 course, but instead I’ve downloaded the audio version of Your First 1000 copies. I sold my first book back in 2013 and have already exceeded that sales target, but I’m hoping his book will help me take a long hard look at my book marketing activities and help me focus on the elements that are going to help me increase sales for the minimum amount of effort.

No I’m not a lazy author, but I love to write, and I want to focus on writing more books. 🙂
